How to Setup 3 Point Stage Lighting

While you only need three lights to setup a three point lighting system, you can of course introduce more to enhance your image. For example, you may want to add a back ground light to add further interest to the image or to suggest a mood.

Continuing with the creative spirit, you may want to also play with the position of the lights, including height and distance to get different effects. Changing light modifiers can also give rise to a different look, but as always be aware of where the shadows are falling when you position them.

If using flash or tungsten, it is also a great idea to add one light at a time and study the way the light behaves. How do the lights interact with each other? If the light is over lapping you could end up with got spots, so don’t forget to meter as you go.

Ultimately at the end of the day, your lighting design is only limited by your imagination. Once you understand the basics you can of course push the limits further.

New Update for Adobe CC

Available for download and upgrade today, Adobe has rolled out a major update to its Creative Cloud applications, including After Effects and Premiere Pro.

The release, which is timed with the upcoming NAB Show, is focused on titling, animation, polishing audio, sharing assets and support for the latest formats, such as HDR, VR and 4K.

“Our heritage is taking complex challenges and simplifying them so you can concentrate on storytelling and professional, quality work,” said Steven Warner, vice president of digital media at Adobe in a release. “The newest Creative Cloud video release integrates the advanced science of Adobe Sensei to make common tasks faster and easier.”

The updated features include:

  • Motion Graphics Templates now bring the power of After Effects to Premiere Pro through easy to use templates, allowing creators to add beautiful titles, animations and lower thirds to their videos and create custom motion graphics templates which can be shared via Creative Cloud Libraries.
  • Essential Sound Panel in Premiere Pro lets users make audio mixes and sound improvements that in the past would have required a dedicated session by an audio engineer.
  • Camera Shake Deblur in After Effects rescues unusable footage by reducing motion blur that often occurs with camera shake.
  • Character Animator (beta) continues to invent the future of live animation with new technology that now animates multiple puppets created in Adobe Photoshop CC or Adobe Illustrator CC, and embraces full body animation with new walk cycles.
  • Team Projects (beta) allows Creative Cloud for teams or enterprise members to have a secure cloud-first collaborative workflow with new support for Dynamic Link and Adobe Media Encoder to streamline collaboration.
  • Ambisonic audio in Premiere Pro expands on its best-in-class native support for VR with positionally-aware audio for VR enabled platforms like YouTube and Facebook.

Why I Hate Chilli’s Restuarant

Maybe it’s me, but every time I go to a Chili’s in Houston, the service is terrible – thus the food is horrific by default.

It usually takes my small family 20-30 minutes to be seated; then another 15-20 minutes before we are addressed to take our order. I know your thinking…”we’ll why continue to go?!” The answer is simple; my family loves chills. I almost think they only love it; because they know I hate it.

I think back to an experience we had at the Pearland Chili’s. The entire waiting staff looked on as we stood in the doorway waiting to be seated. The waitress finally came over to take our orders and got everyone’s meal wrong. To top off this lovely outing – she over charged me. I wonder how much her tip was? I had not been to Chili’s since; not until my recent trip to Denver.

I took a short vacation with some friends to Denver Colorado. The entire group decided that we should go to Chili’s for lunch. What better time to announce my disgust for the bar and grill franchise? To no avail, we dined at Chili’s and much to my surprise the service and the food were excellent. The waitress was fast, friendly and very attentive. In short my confidence was restored, my Chili’s taste buds resurrected and my pallet; thoroughly entertained.

In life we sometimes fight so hard to retain our negative experiences in effort to prevent the reoccurrence, but in the same instance we are closing out the opportunity for redemption and forgiveness
